Founded in 2026, the Stream Foundation exists to educate the public about the financial lives of everyday workers in the UK and US.
What problem are we addressing?
Decision makers across the financial system (including employers, financial services providers, regulators and policymakers) rely on aggregate data, their own lived experience and financial models that do not reflect the volatile and complex realities of the majority of workers. Financial products and policies are built for a 'standard' user with stable income and above average pay, which describes only a minority of people. This creates barriers to inclusion and wellbeing for everyone else.
The Stream Foundation exists to close this knowledge gap. By exposing the granular reality of financial lives through rigorous research, we ensure systems and tools can be redesigned to meet the actual needs of the majority.
What do we do?
Our charitable activities include:
Commissioning academic research on the financial lives of everyday workers. We publish the useful results freely via our website.
Hosting educational events, roundtables, and conferences to share and discuss research findings.
Where does our funding come from?
The Foundation is solely funded by donations from Stream Group Holdings through a 1% pledge.
